Case Study

Orvis — SFCC Content

Orvis needed brand and marketing content brought to life inside its first-ever Salesforce Commerce Cloud site.

Snapshot

Client: Orvis

Industry: Outdoor / fly fishing & wingshooting apparel and gear

Platform: Salesforce Commerce Cloud

Scope of Work: Brand and marketing content build for a multi-year replatform

The Situation

Orvis is one of America’s oldest catalog companies and the industry leader in fly fishing and wingshooting — a brand built on nature, curiosity, and adventure. After years on a homegrown legacy platform, Orvis undertook their first-ever move to Salesforce Commerce Cloud, a project that had been in the works for years by the time CUSTODIAN was brought in to help get it to the finish line.

The Work

CUSTODIAN worked directly with Orvis’s internal digital design team, building within their custom-designed component system rather than a generic template. The work brought to life dozens of brand and marketing stories and shopping tools across the new site, including homepage, brand pages, support pages, landing pages, product size charts, product information pages, and Orvis-Endorsed Guides & Trips pages.

The Partnership

Unlike a project routed through outside development agencies, this engagement meant working shoulder-to-shoulder with Orvis’s own internal design team — building inside components they’d already designed and standing up content their team could recognize as an extension of their own work, not an outside vendor’s.

The Impact

Dozens of brand, marketing, and shopping-tool pages launched as part of Orvis’s first-ever move onto Salesforce Commerce Cloud — closing out a replatform effort that had been years in progress.

Why It Works

Orvis didn’t need a vendor who’d hand off a template and disappear — they needed someone who could work inside their own team’s design system and processes, as if they were already part of the team. That is the difference between a content vendor and a partner who integrates.
